Surinder Kumar, owner and founder of Massage Messenger, is a trained and experienced Ayurvedic massage therapist. Ayurevedic massage is a healing therapy based on human meridian lines and marma (pressure) points.

Surinder grew up in Upper Dari, a small Indian village on the edge of the Himalayan Mountains and was trained at the Baba Massage Centre in Rishikesh, a famous pilgrimage center for Hindus and spiritualists. A year later he studied at the Ananda Ayurvedic Centre in Trivandrum, Kerala, also known as the 'Motherland of Ayurveda.' Through his educational experiences, he learned the fundamentals of Ayurveda, practiced Sirodhara, Udvarthanam and Pizhichil massages and studied the characteristics and healing powers of Ayurvedic oils.

After successfully completing his certification, he opened Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Centre in the town of McLeod Ganj, home of the Dalhi Lama, with his two brothers. Together they taught and practiced Ayurvedic massage and yoga. Later Surinder founded Anatho Ashram, a retreat center offering meditation and yoga classes, Ayurvedic massage therapy, and Ayurvedic cooking classes.

Surinder met and married an American woman living in India and together they moved from India to Hoboken, NJ. In 2007, he completed a one-year massage and bodywork program at the Institute for Therapeutic Massage in Morristown, NJ. At the Institute he studied Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology & Myology, Medical Massage, Swedish Massage Theory and Technique, Myofascial Release, Foot Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Sports Massage, Chair Massage and Business, Ethics & Practice Management, and performed clinical work at the Morristown Rehabilitation Center. After graduation, Surinder freelanced as a massage therapist at day spas in Short Hills and Jersey City, New Jersey.

Surinder and his wife Stephanie recently welcomed a new addition to their family, Jude Hudson Kumar who was born in March of 2008.

Surinder practices massage along with his staff. His favorite, of course, is Ayurvedic massage.
